How are you going to install it from the system you are slaving the HDD to? I suggest you run the manufacturers diagnostic utility on the drive, just in case it`s faulty in some way. These can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website. Make sure you configure the jumpers on the old drive correctly and connect only as a slave.
The PC will determine master/slave status according to the drives' placement on the cable ("master" at the end, "slave" in the middle).
