A word of caution…the most recent ACHI driver on the Asus website might have a problem. Your method, contrary to a lot of misinformation on the internet, much of which required a full reinstall of Windows 7, worked perfectly the 1st try. You may not notice anything happening, so let Windows sit for a minute or two after reboot to give it enough time to make sure this process happened. The best solution is to go into your setup menu and format the third hard drive to correspond to the primary hard drive.
Flag Permalink This was helpful (0) Collapse - Mixing SATA and IDE drives in a system? So you would put your disc drives on IDE2 and your hard drives on IDE1. The IDE HD had to be on the secondary IDE cable in order for it to be recognized by the sata drive.
