When you set Windows Update to download only, you can review and select which updates to install and when. So I now asked MicroSucks how to prevent any future Repairs from replacing intelppm.sys. I guess it was a typo on their part. Magic, it all works 100% Updated PC 1 that had stopped working suddenly...

I was having the same trouble, finally found your fix! It has lived far longer than that.
Thankfully it did.A hardware defect would have been the last option if uninstalling and installing mouse drivers would not have resolved the problem. The behavior is similar to the now pulled KB2949927 patch from October 2014. It SHOULD tell you it sees a new mouse and either ask for the CORRECT drivers or install some generic mouse drivers to make it work. Please refer to our CNET Forums policies for details.
Signed up for CNET just to tell you thanks! I unplug it and plug it back in and it works fine for 10 minutes or so and shuts down again. In addition, the average life span of a mouse is about 1 year. Versado I.T.
